I have been on a DC drawing kick lately that I just can’t seem to shake. It all started out with Cyborg Superman from the Reign of the Supermen storyline. Then I had the urge to draw the Flash, because we are huge fans of the current show and I was fan of the comics when I was little. Lately, the focus turned to Batman. So, I decided to draw Batman.
In searching out reference images, I was torn between many different styles and iterations of the Caped Crusader. I decided to go with one that was more in the middle of all of the styles. Not too campy and not too dark. Personally, I kind of like the Jim Lee take on Batman, so that is what I went with for my reference.
This would be an early 2000’s version of Batman, but one that doesn’t seem to be too over the top and still draws from some of the older styles of the past. Some of the blue schemes are still present and I intentionally went a little overboard with them. Like most modern day iterations of Batman, this one strays from almost all campiness, which I tend to like.
If you would like to see more about the exact story line that I pulled this from (which is Hush) you can see more at this link – Hush Storyline. Now, enjoy this speedy piece of artwork as I draw Batman.
