Knowing how to edit text in Inkscape is incredibly handy, especially if your goal is to make patterns. It can also be extremely useful if you are creating line art, logos, artwork or really any other digital project that requires text to be heavily manipulated.

In this video tutorial I want to show you some of the basic steps that will get you started in editing text in Inkscape. Things that will be covered in this tutorial include:

  • Inserting text
  • Scaling text and resizing
  • Converting text to outline
  • Changing the fill of the text and line thickness
  • Converting the text to a path for heavy manipulation
