There are multiple reasons why drawing the Flash is something I wanted to do. Firstly, I have been a comic book fan since I was just a little guy. Secondly, my wife and I love the new Flash series on the CW. Some might not enjoy it, but we find the story to be well-told and the FX aren’t too shabby for a network show.
I have been drawing since I was about 8 years old and comic book characters were some of the first things that I enjoyed drawing. Once out of high school in 2003 I pretty much just stopped drawing and doing anything even generally artistic. Fast forward to now. Just recently I have begun picking drawing back up and it seems now that it is more enjoyable even than it was back then. Almost therapeutic now.
Anyway, the Flash is the second drawing I have done since I started back up and I would like to share the process with you. It is not really a how-to, but more of a “this is how I did it”. Really, it’s just a speed drawing. I enjoy watching them online and assumed some others might enjoy seeing how I do it.
Below the video is the first drawing I did before I decided to hit record on the camera. It is a drawing of Cyborg Superman from the storyline Reign of the Supermen.
Also, I would like to note that these are not original drawing ideas and are based on referenced images. I make very small tweaks to make it my own, but they are generally based on other fine artist’s work. Enjoy.
